Mixing pixels with paints, Jessica loves to be creative in many realms whether in the art of communications, painting, cooking or thought.
A native of Los Angeles, she graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Art in Psychology. After building up a Creative/Print Production department at a small local ad agency, Jessica went on to study International Communications Design at the Art Center College of Design in La Tour De Peliz, Switzerland. She returned to finish her BFA in Advertising Design stateside at the Art Center campus in Pasadena, California.
After cutting her teeth on two international design analysis projects with legendary designer Saul Bass, Jessica began her 17-year stint at Chiat/Day (and TBWA) as a “suit” before settling in on the creative side. As a Designer for the New Business & Special Projects team, she worked on practically every piece of business in the agency. Her favorite account, however, was always the agency itself, which led to her role as the Worldwide Director of Art & Design and then Director of Corporate Branding for parent company TBWA\Worldwide.
Reporting directly to Lee Clow, Jessica has been responsible for perpetuating the creative integrity of the agency and for sharing its culture and identity with the outside world. She was also the touch base for all pro-bono work for arts related charities and for the development of the agency’s in-house high school advertising & design academy.
When Steve Jobs brought his business back to Chiat/Day, Jessica was the lead Art Director on the brand advertising for Apple Computer and was responsible for the look and feel of the multi-award winning “Think different.” tribute campaign that has brought the soul of Apple back to its creative and innovative roots. Over the years she has also worked on Levi’s, Nissan, Taco Bell, Absolut, The International Olympic Committee and many others.
Today, Jessica splits her time between projectdesignstudio and TBWA\ and often projects intertwine. When not designing, Jessica has taught an “Inside the Agency” class to students at Art Center, is the Artistic Director for Room 13 USA a not-for-profit international network of student run art studios, exhibits her paintings wherever people let her, and enjoys laughing with her husband and daughter.
